Autonomic dysfunction
Autonomic dysfunction
The presence of diverse autonomic dysfunction in Parkinson’s disease (PD) has shifted the concept of PD from the neurodegeneration of a select population of neurons in the brain to the involvement of multiple organ systems such as cardiovascular, skin/sweat gland, urinary, gastrointestinal, pupillary and neuroendocrine systems. Autonomic dysfunction may be ubiquitous and include increased salivation, constipation, urinary incontinence, orthostatic hypotension and sexual dysfunction.
